As you may have already heard, the August 2nd announcement of Skyrush also brought with it a complete makeover of Comet Hollow to have more of a nostalgic feel of the park's past. In order for this to happen, the Tilt-A-Whirl as well as other facilities currently in the area will either need to be relocated to another area or removed altogether. So let's get started shall we.
Comet Hollow, as we know it, will change next year. Various structures will either be relocated or removed.
The Whack-A-Mole stand is said to be relocated to another spot in the area. Wheither the stand itself will receive a makeover is yet to be known.
Let's take a final look at the Tilt-A-Whirl and Restroom area shall we....
According to several sources, the Tilt-A-Whirl will be moving back to its original location in Founder's Circle.
It will be replacing the Tiny Tracks kiddie train ride which will be placed in storage.
The Tilt-A-Whirl queue line. This area will house part of Skyrush's queue line area.
You have until after Labor Day weekend to get your final rides in before this area closes as we know it.
The Comet Hollow restrooms will be removed in order to accomodate Skyrush's entrance and part of its queue.
They will be rebuilt into the lower level of the coaster's loading station.
One more final look at the restrooms with Comet in the background.
Let's take a final look at the Comet Hollow games building.
This area will house Skyrush's brake run into the loading station.
One last view of the side and rear of the games building. It's been said that new games buildings will be constructed as part of the area makeover.
Let's check out the Comet and see what changes will be in store for next year:
Here's the inside of Comet's station as we currently know it. I'm not sure how much the construction of Skyrush will affect this area. Rumor has it that parts of the station will be reconfigured to house Skyrush.
Comet's entry ramp. I'm not sure how this will be affected by construction.
Comet's exit ramp. This view next year will also feature Skyrush's final turn into the brakes.
Here is a good view of Comet, along with its queue line in the foreground. The queue area will probably see some changes along with construction.
Look at it now because next year, this view will be entirely different.
As the diagram shows from press day, there will be a new scenic path constructed which will connect Rhineland to Comet Hollow, providing new views of the Comet as well as of Skyrush.
As you can see, there is an opening in the Comet's structure which is currently covered with the white fence. This housed the path of the original electric railway that ran through the park up until 1972. Since then the area has been abandoned until now. As you can see, the opening will eventually house the one end of that pathway.
Here is a view of the other side of where the new path will begin/end. Note the Comet and the rear of the Hospitality Services building to the left.
And I leave you with a sign of what's to come.
Hope you enjoy this photo documentary of Comet Hollow and that it will help you relive the many memories of the area before it changes forever.
