    Post  gb980109 Wed Aug 10, 2011 11:40 pm

I figured a new thread would just be easier...

    A thread about park maps!

    I have maps (jpg for the most part) from 1973, 1975, 1977, 1985, 1987, 1988, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2010 and 2011, as well as a Candylane 2001 map.

What maps do you guys have?

Great topic! Let's see what Hersheypark maps I have:

    Summer Maps:
    1993, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011

    Springtime in the Park:
    2004, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011

    HP in the Dark:
(Creatures of the Night/Pre HP in the Dark) - 1995, 1996 and 1997
    (HP in the Dark) - 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and will be getting 2011

    Candylane:
    1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and will getting 2011

    Souvenir Maps:
    1988, 1990 and 1995

I may try to get some pics (especially of the souvenir maps) sometime in the near future. Would be cool especially if you could post scans/pics of your earlier maps from the 70's.

    http://www.themeparkbrochures.net/

It has park brochures and maps from all over the country dating back to the 70's in some cases. It's a fun site to look through.

They are sorted by year and by park for easy viewing and finding.

^ I use that site sometimes as well. They really have a great collection there, depending on what park you are looking for.
A good few of my maps are image files, but I do have a few hard copies. I don't think I have anything from the 70's, but I do remember boxing some early 80's and early 90's brochures / maps a few years ago.

That really is indeed a nice site. Gives a better insight into the History of Hersheypark.

Had to delete the site in order to post. I hate the wait 7 days period right now.

I really wish they would hire the company that made the 95 souvenir map to do their current park map. They do a way better job than the current map, which has deteoriated over the years. I can't begin to name all the errors that are on there.

I think I bought the 95 map in 1997 in the Midway Emporium. Since Wildcat was only a year old at the time, I guess it would make sense to put the "New for 96" sticker on there.

I've seen a lot of past maps posted on here but what about a current map that is more up to date and looks better than the current map the park has today?

My Friend Dan, drew this map for a college project!
    Feedback would be awesome!!

^That looks awesome! Tell him he did a great job, if you can. I especially like the detail in the tracks, which is lacking in HP's official park map.

I've noticed that the Hersheypark map for this year is in a different format than in the past, in terms of ride listing and labeling. I think it looks a little bit better than the map from last season, which had poorly placed labels and some sloppy graphics.

Side by side, I would honestly prefer to use your friends map than the current map. Smile

Hey, that totally awesome! Wink Was that completely computer illustrated? That definitely looks waaaay better than the current park map which is in bad need of replacement. I don't know how many errors I've found on the current park map. Is he planning on keeping it up to date like I am with mine?

To be honest, I like the style of the Cedar Fair park maps better. Of course they could add trees in there, that's really one of the only main problems I have with them.

I agree with warhawk911, let's get back on topic shall we.

I do like how they label the major rides right on the map, instead of using a number system. In my opinion it's one of the few things that seems to be better.

I prefer this years map to the last few years. There are still tons of mistakes on the map, but that's aside from the point. I like the design of it, the look of it. It's a bit refreshing to see, I guess, is the best way to put it.

Anyone else ever use the Herseypark app for Ipod touch, phone and such. I like to always have it to check it out where ever I am. seems decent and it tells you if a ride is down. just curious of others opinions.

I have a 1987 Souviner map, and there's a ride in Carousel Circle called "Snowball Express" looks like the graphic for Flying Bobs I would think, but was it ever called Snowball Express? Or would that have been the Mini Himalaya by that point?

I thought maybee it was a mislabel, but maybee someone here knows.

Yup, right to the left of FB, I guess it was replaced by Tiny Timbers? That's one ride that's been around the park.

Regarding the hard copies of the map for this year, I have to say give an okay first impression. I feel that the entire page being filled out is an improvement over some of the previous maps. The image isn't much different, but it makes for a nicer look. However, the text boxes that are thrown in pose a problem as they block out certain parts of the map.
On another note, the paper itself is a lot sturdier feeling than the glossy and thin feel that previous maps had, which to me is a plus.
